The OP is...
O.K. Everybody get ready to write ,phone or whatever their elected officials as i heard through the grapevine that the new National Park Service Director is plannong on doing away with the mule ride, seems he is an avid hiker and wants them to move to the north rim where it is so steep and also 200 miles away that it is almost impossible to do, he has an ecological study supposedly on his side , we all need to keep an eye on the progress of this as this is a disgrace as the mule ride has been going on over 50 years and people come from around the world, it is a national treasure that we would be losing,i will try to keep any info posted as it comes in and anyone else out there that has any info please share it.
