Hi just joined ,am originally from England but living in Ireland for 19 years .Play polocrosse a lot but started looking for a horse which would be hardy and have a long life. Started looking at criollos and then stumbled across mules. Started reading up and the more i read the more i am fascinated by them. However i cant find much information on them in Ireland . If anyone knows anyone here i would love to hear. Came across a good website ,google queen valley mule ranch. All the best Jake[/b]
Hi Jake and welcome.Quite a few mules come over from Ireland. My lovely hinny Sarah-lee was Irish bred.
Most of them are "Accidents" though so unless you are lucky, they aren't always "quality"
I've got a couple of Steve Edwards videos.
Have you found Albie's site yet? http://www.mulesspain.com/ my boy Malaga came from him.

Hi Jake,
Lightning quick hello as we have house guests and I'm supposed to be mucking out not playing on the computer!!
I have a mule but I'm also passionate about Criollo's so will reply properly in a couple of days!
If I had the money I know a man that would import me a good working mule from Argentina (Criollo cross) I think it would be incredible but the exchange isn't good for importing at the moment.
Am new to this internet lark so sorry if i get stuff wrong. Thanks for replies, probably wont be contributing much as dont have a mule at present but will be reading all posts.I work in a tough school in Limerick(tough city its nickname is stab city).Nearly all the kids have horses, harness racing is big here, ive even heard one guywho races a zebra!!One of the kids has a stallion donkey which much to the annoyance of his neighbors has apparently covered several mares,so i'll keep you informed of any developments.Looking forward to hearing about criollos. If anyone is coming here or needs advice on irish equines i may be able to help.

Jake - you must hunt down the harness zebra and photograph it for us - I would love to see that!
We are about to dash back out to polo but our Criollo stallion is on our website - www.chamfronstud.com
I also have a blog, that I update with photos more regularly and generally keep up to date for our friends and family so they can check we are still alive...!!
If you are after a Criollo, the splashy chestnut in the polo photos is for sale - papered Uruguayan mare - proper Criollo!!! (Best I don't get onto a rant about some of the imported "Criollo's" this morning!!) Can highly recommend her and would have her in a moment if we had any money!
Don't feel you have to have a mule to post - would love to hear about polocross. Are there many Criollo's in Ireland?
I have a good photo of Army mules playing polo which I will scan in and post next week!
Looks like i accidentally joined the right forum. Feel a bit guilty talking about criollos on a mule site. I think it may be because they have a lot in common .The only pure bred one i've met was called monkey because they originally were going to call it donkey because of its large ears ,(the guy that owned it has an australian stock horse that he shipped over to produce high quality polocrosse ponies).I must find out where it came from, the only other ones i know of here are ex polo ponies but are not full bred.the guy who has these breeds quarter horses, really nice guy(www.westernridingireland.com).Must talk more about mules next time , just off to polocrosse (limerickpolocrosseclub.com),will try and get photo of zebra.PS Amber is a beutiful foal, wish i wasn't broke right now.All the best Jake.
