hi there, i was wondering if you guys could help me.
i'd like to buy a mule, 15hh-16.2hh must be bombproof, with no vices or malice, good to do in all ways to live at my yard with my 2 horses (both mares) with lrage stables and all yr round turn out.
must hack out alone and in company and be good on both quiet and busy roads. for the life of me i can't find any websites in the uk.
can you guys help?
i've always had a curiosity with mules, i think they're wonderfull creatures and can promise a 5* loving, committed and experienced home. it's just finding some to view!
why are these animals so rare in the uk? xx
Hi Vicky and welcome.Working/riding Mules are rare because i this country they are mainly accidents and we don't have big donkeys over here although things are changing Look in the For Sale/wanted section I think Thelma's still there and she's a lovely mule.Mine came from Albie in Spain

I very much doubt you'll find a 15hh/16hh mule in an adoption centre in this country unless you count the 5yr old shire cross redwings have just had!!!! You might try and see if Sussannah Powell has bred anything recently.

i don't know, depends on what's offered yo me.
i still can't believe they're so rare and hard to find!
i'm even considering having one of my horses put in foal by AI to a donkey, but would really prefer to view and ride some mules before i buy rather than breed my own
Unless you get incredibly lucky you're going to end up taking a trip to Spain and/or the USA... prices of equines in USA rock bottom at present so even if you add on trip to go and see and try some, plus import costs (about £3500 when I did it but with stronger $ presumably £4000 ish now) you might get something lovely and have change out of £6500.
next weekend?
i'll keep searching, something will come up, push comes to shove i'll breed my own via AI, my mares are pretty big so the foal should be of good size. i'll have a chat with my vet see what she thinks. untill then i'll be doing as much homework as i can on mules. i keep looking at pics of them on the internet and dreaming with wishful thoughts......lol

Well I'm putting two and two together and may be utterly wrong (at which point JJ will tell me so in no uncertain terms....) but I think she may have acquired another longear and it may be foreign.
Yep! Malaga will have someone to talk to,and I'm not the only one,I'm waiting for heliotrope up north to come on and post so I can add photo's for her....
