Post subject: Moon all dressed up as a western show mule

This is Moon and I at the weekend. We got dressed up in our show gear because at one point last week it did look as though I might be visiting her to say goodbye. Luckily on Friday night the call call came that the diagnosis wasn't sinister after all (hopefully!) so instead of a gloomy weekend we had a lot of fun.
Moon has hardly been out of her box for weeks as she has been on box rest; it was very windy, and although only a few yards from the stables, she'd never been to the bit of the garden where we took the pics, so it was quite exciting. For a mule that was on 3 legs a week ago she did a cute little rear and buck! This pic is the very last of about 70
She has also been enchanting the great and the good of the dressage world who have visited the yard where she's living at the moment (wonderful place, a small warm blood stud that can take a rehab livery or two - a very dear friend of mine, who used to work for my western trainer, started working there in Spring, and so come July when Moon went lame, it ll worked out very neatly. The facilities are great and it's only 15 minutes from the equine hospital, whereas if I had brought her home to Anglesey we would have been off down the road to Leahurst on the Wirral several times by now)
One very smart girl and that includes the one with the hat too Jinglejoys it sounds as if you have to go shopping for a new hat as they are only made to "work" once.
Wine is is such a dissappointment so I don't bother anymore! Feeling much better after the pain killers but I'm dreading mucking out at work again tomorrow. At least I've got an excuse to try out the New Troxel western

Hello! Blimey Jinglejoys, right out the front door sounds pretty dramatic! What happened?
Sadly, though, beware the very British reaction of a hot bath for aching muscles, it's ice you need, or so my physio colleagues tell me!
Is your Troxel western the new stetson one with proper helmet inside, or the western-themed one with the suede trimmings? Always liked the look of those.
And re Moon.... OK, I'll post some more of the pics
Interesting you mention her growing though - I think she has too - didn't have a measuring tape or stick with me at the weekend - but panosteitis in dogs can sometimes follow a growth spurt....
Of course she was meant to end up abut 14.3hh and be my reining prospect. Whereas she was just over 15hh a few months ago and has very, very English paces. Jo, whose yard she's at, has pointed out she will need white boots and accessories if she is to become a dressage mule, and the shocking pink I had in mind for her simply will not do!
As mules are different to horses why not have different legs, shocking pink boots or white ones with pink stars (make those yourself with some glitter glue.
