Thanks jj... any history of whatever sort will be interesting and welcome.
A farrier came out today and wasn't greeted particularly warmly LOL.... but we will take it slow and sure... she is at least picking up her fronts by hand and her back legs/hooves on command with my (special long padded broom) calmly now after a week...Without kicking it across the paddock, so thats not as bad... She also managed to stand next to my spotty calmly and watch while he was shod... bless her... Can't blame her for being a bit suspicious of another odd person ......
Progress on the leg handling.... am now able to hoof pick fronts ok and lift back legs up by hand on command and put them down myself.... She does seem to have learn't a new trick tho.....
Crawling under the electric fence.....???? Now my spotty has been known to try it on going under the line, but she really takes the biscuit... she kneels down and lowers her whole back quarters to swoop under the cheeky madam..... mind you... the two of them are going to make a fabby trec team if i don't end up bbqing them first LOL!!!
I am in somerset... and she appeared in the same village.. however i am led to believe that she came from cornwall and her passport seems to agree with this being her place of origin... the chap i got her off said he bought her from cornwall ???
Well... i would never be certain with the goings on around here.... but... in this case the passport does seem genuine and i will be contacting the original 'breeder'/owner listed on it.... to see what comes up, when i get it back....... with the changed details on it...
You never quite know how these poor equines get passed around through sales and dealers and how much they end up travelling from one end of the country to another in a matter of weeks and months as they change hands between dealers..... I would still be interested in any piccys...
I have to say i still haven't her 'neighbray' yet. I have only heard the odd squeak when she asks the others to move away... What is a mule sound called a bray? a neigh? or something else if it is a combination? apparently she was neighbraying all the time at the dealers but we haven't heard her at all, and neither have neighbours of the field where i am keeping her? It is most frustrating!!!!
Various things cross my mind on that
1 She was very unconfident at the dealers
2 She had been seperated from her herd(companion)
3 She'll talk again when she has bonded with you but apart from that she won't make much noise its more of a whicker.Mine don't talk unless they have something interesting to say unlike the Donkeys who talk at any excuse

She was fab today... i took her for a walk just me and her and we had to negotiate a few obstacles like get over logs... then a tree that had fallen down blocking the path..... i stood on some branches to lower them and she had to go underneath some.... it took a little gentle calm persuasion but she did it while i was balancing and jumped right thru the tunnel i made... then we had to walk down the A road with coaches, caravans, tractors, lorries, signs, flags, motobikes.. etc whizzing past... She is fab she just takes everything in her stride.... She did spook and strikeout and attack a mattress that had been left in a hedge that surprised her... but it deserved it LOL... then we went back for a proper look and made friends.... In fact so far i am finding her a whole lot more willing and less stubborn than the spotty one... dare i say it????.... Is it possible that i have a mule in an appaloosas body and a willing trusting little pony in a mules one? LOL
