It is an one of the oldest horse traders trick. Tie down a spooky horse or mule and plug its ears with anything including Blue tack! Shove it's own fresh dung it on top. Tie the animal real short for a few days till it stops shaking its head, Some will even tie the animal short and beat it across its rump with an 8mm steel re bar (steel reinforcing!)till it learns to stop head shaking! Once that is done they can start to let the animal back in general community. Now it is deaf it is less spooky! No point arguing with me. I have seen it done, and one of my first mule purchases was fixed that way when I bought her! Yes I got caught to! these days they will use brown candle wax and stick s few tufts of hair in it first to look natural to the less than smart! My grand father Thomas Vickers of 69 Walmer Road London W11 was a horse dealer. Some will stop at nothing to sell a sick, or mad horse!
Albert, The muleman.
I think Albie is refering to your Ear wax thread but looking at it from another angle Weird what some people will do to animals Somewhere, and you can never find things when you want to ,I have a link to a drawing of a Mule being held down on its back by about 7 Calvalry Officers while they try to shoe it

Well, it's a very peculiar take on my original query if so......! I'm sure there are some individuals who do resort to such lengths but equally sure there aren't any on this forum and so rants not necessary, thanks.

I've taught my jack donkey to lie down on command - I cue him by lifting his n/s/f foot and tipping his nose to the right.
Last time my EP was trimming his front feet she accidentally pulled his head round. He lay down, and she thought he was having a heart attack!!
