Apologies if my sentance was not percieved as appropriate.. However I do believe that it is important when considering an animals welfare that we consider its quality of life and if offering it a home, that we have the appropriate funds and environment to keep that animal. In fact i believe that is the Animal Welfare Act. I probably did not phrase this very well and if this led to offending anyone i apologise. However if somebody wishes to offer an animal a good home and can do so i fully support them.

Hello Potto, Mulesuk, Jinglejoys!
Thanks for your comments. I can see I have already lost credibility with my "advert" to raise money. I will not explain my my financial situation here but I will confirm that I do not walk around with pink glasses and hope that problems won't be ahead of me with more rescued animals in my home. I am very well aware of that and can offer all future equines a loving home in warm barns on 9 acres of land, with means to pay vet bills and farriers...
I do appreciate that people are concerned about animal welfare and to right so! Too much cruelty is going on, not only "abroad" but here, in our country, in every city, in many households.
So let's rather concentrate on that and also let us enjoy the Mules. That's the reason why we are here, aren't we?
Tina

Not at all, I bought my mule completely on the spur of the moment, while I was off work with a broken arm (and we had just moved house) I already had a perfectly good riding horse and I had no money... I begged and borrowed and finally paid her off about six months later, you do what you have to!! (Or what you want to )

So true most of us struggle to fund our pets, buy them and keep them, not many people (even at the the top of the game) who have ever kept animals well have ever profitted hugely financially... but on the other hand the other rewards after all that scrimping, saving and hard work, emotion and energy are sooooo much better!!!!

I bought a cheapo young horse and have bred my other as although in the long run more expensive than buying the costs are spread out and less painful. I have been lucky and ended up with quality animals but it could just have easily gone the other way. I am not sure how I will get my mule though as cannot afford to buy and breeding could be just as expensive if I have to go down the AI route.

Would be too far next year as I would not want to travel a foal at foot that distance. The following year?? Probably too far as I would want to check the place out before risking letting my mare go away from home and it makes for a long day trip. However I do know of a stud that I would trust with my mare in Shropshire.... but then I would be tempted by one of their wonderfull boys.

There are sadly so many lovely animals going for slaughter every day, but the principle is Don't Get involved with people you don't know, And, definitely never with money! Just because one or two animals appeal to you does not change anything! Sell your rugs and stuff on ebay, save the money and then go and save an animal, and do it your self! We all know heart breaking stories, and I guess we all do what we can when we can! Would you sell your rugs and send the money to me for an animal I want to save? I think not! Either join and financially support an organization like I do, or set yourself achievable goals and go for them! I wish you the best of luck!

Hi Mulemanspain!
Thanks for your words. I think that is what I am exactly going to do. I have sold the rugs, have some work done in my stables and basicially prepare myself for l o t s of mules in the near future. Which organisation are you member at? My favourite is The Brooks as it seems to help animals AND people...
Do you breed mules?
Tina
