Can anyone give me their preferences? We are not talking flat country here but trail riding
I used to ride Sarah-lee in Britchen and a double girth set up which worked well with her cheap Trooper saddle and I could loose girth her without it slipping. However it took ages to set up.
I'm thinking of Malaga.I could go for just a crupper but I have heard tales of wrecks when real pressure is put on.
Breeching does take forever and is usually leather and heavy.
I have heard that the double girth works but......
Anyone help me out :)

Nope, but tell me what you conclude!!!

Moon's 3 month holiday nearly up and she will be going back to school next month.

Has anyone used "Limpet" or "Impakt" saddle pads on mules or horses specifically to reduce saddle slipping? I have two, but used on a horse who doesn't have any saddle slip issues... just wondered whether using a pad that in effect glues itself to the horses back with sweat (clever foam-y neoprene-y stuff) might be equally logically as tying the saddle down in devious ways to stop it shifting forward?

Have used limpet pads on horses that are a little rotund. Dont work very well under an ordinary saddle but under a treeless (heather moffitt )one and girthed seriously tight works a treat

Well I've got a crupper! (think I'll leave it to James Roberts to experiment with it :D  ) We'll start with that.
I tried a limpet on Sarah-lee before her english type saddle got nicked but then went on to the trooper and couldn't find one to suit the shape so left it.
Elkay you haven't just been to Bishop Mule Day have you, and had a chat with Bonnie Shields or is that someone else with an American import?

Blimey, wish I had been to Bishop Mule Days, it is one of my ambitions, but you're thinking of a lovely lady from Blackpool, Fran, who imported the sweet sorrel mule with the rude name a few months after I imported Moon :-) (she is getting somr really nice ridden work out of her mule now)

She obviously had a great time, I was absurdly jealous after reading an email from her last night.... she met Bonnie, and Meredith Hodges, and loved it, and is going back next year.

I may try to go next year too..... meet up with Moon's breeders, Tami and Phil, again if we can...

I am rather blitheley assuming everyone on this forum has heard of Bishop Mule Days?

Ah In that case she might be on Video Mikes' 2008 DVD of Bishop when he finishes it
"I've been working on the 2008 Mule Days DVD since you wrote this morning. I just logged a clip of Bonnie Shields interviewing a woman from England who adopted a mule in Texas and flew it to England"

There is Talk of a group of BMS members going over there next year to watch. There might be something in The Mule about it.
