I love that second one!Most of the ones I've see look set up or on parade but that one looks as if they are really fond of each other :D

Can you tell us more about where and when they are likely to have been taken? We only did "naff" history at school and I am reading up more on the World Wars as I feel I'm completely lacking in knowledge about them.

First photo - look at the quality of those mules!
Second - what would the coat have been made from?
Third - not so convinced of the quality of that mule!!
Fourth - dear god, how did anyone survive?

Any more?!! :D

What line of work?
Have you tried the Austarlian Natioanal War Museum site?
http://www.awm.gov.au/
select collection..Type in conflict eg WW1 ,then mule or donkey etc.

There were some amazing ones in US site that I can't now find of the Burma campain WW2.

I know it was hard for the men but I feel more sorry for the mule somehow :(
